Canadians are jittery, losing sleep and nervous about the outcome of today’s election. Our message: Keep calm, you’re Canadian and will continue to live in the greatest Country on the planet.
A recent Edmonton study showed 20% of Canadians are concerned: One in five Canadians have been losing sleep over the United States presidential election, according to a recent sleep survey by an Edmonton-based, online mattress company.
Novosbed, which was established in Edmonton in 2009, asked Canadians how the election is affecting their sleep. Twenty-two per cent of respondents reported loss of sleep due to stress caused by the presidential race and 16 per cent reported having nightmares or dreams association with the election.
Republican Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election has led Canadians to issue statements that range from restrained congratulations to utter dismay.
“Canada has no closer friend, partner, and ally than the United States,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement Wednesday morning, hours after Trump claimed victory.
“We look forward to working very closely with President-elect Trump, his administration, and with the United States Congress in the years ahead, including on issues such as trade, investment, and international peace and security.”
